CREATOR OF THE 99 HELPS KICK OFF DAY ONE
Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa, the creator of the world-acclaimed comic book series THE 99, featuring superheroes born from an Islamic archetype, was one of several speakers on the opening day of the SEEN. The conference focuses on three aspects cutting across the field: Inspiration, Innovation and Imagination.
In addition to Dr. Al-Mutawa day 1 featured speakers and workshops from artists and professionals representing a range of visual "scenes" in Kuwait, such as graffiti, film, calligraphy, cartoons, PR and others. There was also an art exhibition, an open bazaar, and select food vendors, who will be on campus for the entire week.
"In today's world, visual messages are a very important way to communicate and get people's attention," said Antonia Jolic, faculty member of GUST's Mass Communication and Media Department. "This conference shows how creative professionals in several fields use the power of visuals to make an impact and it also gives our students a better understanding of the possibilities offered by their degree."
